Biography: Christopher Chagnon
Christopher Chagnon's
photography career began with a Polaroid camera in 1971. While sailing on an ore freighter as a deckhand, the urge to record the
interesting people, places and captivating scenery throughout the Great
Lakes gave way to his niche. His stops along the way include:
Photographer for the Observer & Eccentric Newspapers, special photo
assignments for the Detroit Free Press, Sport Magazine, Sports
Illustrated, Associated Press, United Press International, staff
photographer for the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Pistons, Westin Hotel
Renaissance Center public relations photographer, UAW, Detroit
Federation Of Teachers (national award winner), American Federation Of
Teachers (national award winner), head photographer for the Republican
National Convention Committee-Detroit 1984, fashion photo assignments
for JC Penney, and free-lance photojournalist.
Chagnon's photos and articles have been
published in Time, Sports Illustrated, and Sport Magazine among
countless other publications throughout his career. Some of his
subjects include, Ronald Reagan, George Bush, Brooke Shields, Za Za
Gabor, Priscilla Presley, John Biner and Henry Ford II.
Chagnon has returned to his home town of Onaway, Michigan, where he has
dedicated his efforts to providing unique and creative portraiture and
commercial photography to the area.
